The rosenberg kindergarten as a fountain of youth
A whole house full of lively children – birgit kestel enjoys this every day anew, even after 25 years of work. That’s how long she has been working as an educator. She spent almost her entire career – with the exception of the preceding year of recognition – at the catholic kindergarten "maria theresia gerhardinger". The facility – better known as "rosenberg-kindergarten" – she has been the director for 21 years now. This is a reason to celebrate, thought the children and colleagues and surprised their "biggi" at the kiga’s autumn festival with a small anniversary program.
A cuddly cushion
The staff had a great time with the children of the "spatzennest" and the "mouse family they secretly prepared beautiful songs and a dance, which they then performed. In addition, the boys and girls presented her with 25 small gifts and a large gift box with a surprise of their own design – a cuddly cushion on which all the children were immortalized.
On behalf of the team, her deputy andrea engelhardt congratulated her on her anniversary. "Our biggi is an educator with heart and soul. For her, being an educator is not just a job, but a vocation. You are always there for your employees and the children. These are your children; this is your kindergarten", the manager, who always has "great ideas", praised them have.
A lot has changed in the last 25 years – in the field of education, but also in the kindergarten itself. Birgit kestel was the driving force behind much of this work – for example, the wooden ceilings, the learning workshop and the new garden.
"It’s great that biggi has been here for so long", regional dean thomas teuchgraber, who expressed the congratulations of the catholic church foundation kronach on the occasion of the "silver anniversary", was also pleased communicated. He also thanked her for the good cooperation, as did thomas pyka, who presented her with an honorary certificate from the state of bavaria. Uli noll and sabrina stockert congratulated from the parents’ council. Visibly touched birgit kestel thanked for the many good wishes and presents.
Full of anticipation
"I have enjoyed going to the kindergarten every day for all these years", said the jubilarian. This was due to the children, but also to the staff, most of whom had been working in the kindergarten for such a long time. New, young colleagues also joined the team again and again. "They are all top performers. You can only be as good as the team around you", she was grateful and full of anticipation for the coming years: "working in the kindergarten is fun and keeps you young!"
The anniversary was embedded in the kindergarten’s traditional autumn festival. The young and the young-at-heart – from the kindergarten kids to the "big kids" – enjoyed the experience – the parents with atmospheric songs and a puppet show.
Afterwards, the new parents’ council was elected and the service anniversary was celebrated, before the parents and children enjoyed a delicious buffet to round off the evening.
